No Sushi for you!

I realise that my blogging days have to be either Wed-Fri, or never. So if I schedule enough blog entries to last me through Saturday-Tuesday, I'll be fine... don't have to worry during work. Unfortunately, this streak of entries will draw to an end pretty soon before I accumulate enough material for another month's worth of daily updates. It's been fun =)

This is a revisitation of Cafe Ish, one of my favourite cafe of all times. Located at Surry Hills, it's actually not a far walk from China Town. Cafe Ish is a fusion of Australian and Japanese cuisine, so you see ingredients like kangaroo and crocodile, as well as soft shell crab... some served with rice and miso soup. I have ranted about their wattle maccacino... I don't know what a maccacino is in coffee term, but it's pretty much like a cap. Presentation NEVER fails with their wattle maccacino at Cafe Ish. Yes, I've learnt to appreciate latte art... this rosette is so hard to do...

I decided to order Ai's Freaking Awesome Fried Chicken. That is literally what it says on the menu. I felt kinda stupid ordering this because you'll be telling the waiter "Can I please get Ai's freaking awesome fried chicken..." which sounds totally lame. Their fault.

The fried chicken is indeed quite good, but it was VERY garlicky. See all those chunks of things on top of the chicken? Those are all garlic. I don't have anything against garlic and I actually didn't know what I was eating, but garlic breath is never fun... which is actually an issue I have with eating Korean food actually... the garlic breath. I don't know a good way to get rid of it! Chewing gum and mint don't work...

Of course, anyone who hasn't been there before MUST order the soft shell crab omelette with avocado... so good! I would have ordered it again if I wasn't so keen on trying the other stuff on their menu.

They have really interesting drink mixes too, some are alcoholic, but this one isn't. It's black sesame ice cream, macadamia nuts and creaming soda. Weird... I didn't try this, haha, preferred my wattle maccacino. The really good thing about Cafe Ish is that it's really relaxing just sitting in there and spending forever chilling with just a drink. This is the real definition of cafe, where you don't feel pressured to order dishes, or get kicked out as soon as you finish your drink or meal. It opens pretty long hours from Thurs-weekends too I think, and they are opened for dinner at 6. Kitchen closes around 3 or so after lunch, so you can only get drinks and cakes during that time, but really, I'd gladly go there just for drinks and with a good companion to chat to. It had a bad reputation before because some people had really bad service here, when they attempted to take photos and got caught, bringing the manager out and getting shouted at... but that's cos they lack stealth. When unsure, pretend to be a tourist! :D Annyeonghaseyo~~~

Which reminds me, I gotta take JC here sometime...
